At Rise & Shine Property Services, we believe that professional cleaning should do more than deliver great-looking results. The way a business operates, the products it uses and the choices it makes can all contribute to a more sustainable future.
That is why we are proud to announce that Rise & Shine Property Services has joined the Sustainable Business Network (SBN).
As we continue to grow our commercial cleaning and property services across Auckland, Christchurch, Wellington and Queenstown, joining SBN is an important step in our commitment to becoming a more responsible and sustainability-focused business.
What Is the Sustainable Business Network?
The Sustainable Business Network (SBN) is Aotearoa New Zealand’s largest sustainable business organisation. It is a membership-based, not-for-profit social enterprise that brings businesses and organisations together to share knowledge, collaborate and take practical action towards a more sustainable future.
The network currently includes more than 400 organisations, with SBN reporting 409 organisations in its network.
Being part of this community gives Rise & Shine the opportunity to connect with other businesses that are taking sustainability seriously and to continue learning about practical ways to improve our own approach.
Why Sustainability Matters in Commercial Cleaning
Cleaning is an essential part of maintaining a healthy and welcoming workplace.
But professional cleaning also involves decisions about products, equipment, water, waste and the processes used every day.
For a company operating across multiple cities and a wide range of commercial environments, these decisions matter.
At Rise & Shine, we believe sustainability should be considered alongside cleaning performance.
Our goal is to provide an effective professional cleaning service while making responsible choices wherever possible.
Sustainability Is About More Than “Green” Products
When people think about sustainable cleaning, they often think first about environmentally friendly cleaning products.
Products are certainly important, but sustainability is broader than that.
It can involve looking at:
- The products and chemicals being used
- How cleaning equipment is maintained and reused
- Waste and consumable management
- How resources are used
- Cleaning processes and efficiency
- The environmental impact of everyday business decisions
- Continually finding ways to improve
This is why joining SBN is meaningful to us.
It provides access to a wider community where businesses can learn, share ideas and take practical steps towards more sustainable ways of operating. SBN itself provides members with sustainability resources, training, networking and opportunities to connect with other organisations.
A Sustainability Commitment Across Four Cities
Rise & Shine Property Services is expanding its commercial cleaning and property services across Auckland, Christchurch, Wellington and Queenstown.
While every city and property has different requirements, our commitment to responsible business practices remains consistent.
Whether our team is cleaning an office in Auckland, maintaining a commercial property in Wellington, supporting a hospitality business in Queenstown or servicing a workplace in Christchurch, we want our approach to reflect the same professional standards.
Our SBN membership supports that company-wide approach.
Supporting Better Choices in Commercial Cleaning
Commercial cleaning involves many decisions that happen every day.
Which products should be used?
How should equipment be managed?
How can waste be reduced?
How can cleaning processes be made more efficient?
How can a cleaning company continue improving its environmental practices as it grows?
There isn’t always one simple answer.
That’s why we believe in continuous improvement.
Rather than claiming that sustainability is something a business can simply achieve and finish, we see it as an ongoing process of learning, reviewing and making better choices.
Sustainability and Quality Can Work Together
Being environmentally conscious shouldn’t mean compromising on cleaning quality.
Businesses still need their offices, facilities, hospitality venues and commercial properties to be thoroughly and professionally cleaned.
Our approach is to find ways to balance these requirements.
We want to deliver the level of cleanliness our clients expect while also being mindful of the products, processes and resources involved in providing that service.
For us, sustainability is not about choosing between quality and responsibility.
It’s about working towards both.
What Does SBN Membership Mean for Our Clients?
Our membership of the Sustainable Business Network gives our clients another insight into the values behind Rise & Shine Property Services.
Businesses are increasingly looking at the wider practices of the companies they work with. A cleaning contractor is not simply responsible for cleaning a building; it becomes part of the wider supply chain of the business it serves.
For organisations with their own sustainability objectives, working with suppliers who are also thinking about environmental responsibility can be an important consideration.
Our involvement with SBN reflects our willingness to keep learning and improving in this area.
Learning From a Wider Business Community
One of the benefits of joining a network like SBN is the opportunity to learn from businesses operating across different industries.
Sustainability challenges can look very different from one organisation to another.
By connecting with other businesses, Rise & Shine can learn from different approaches, discover practical ideas and consider how relevant improvements can be applied to our own operations.
SBN’s network brings together organisations from a wide range of sectors, creating opportunities for collaboration and knowledge sharing. (sustainable.org.nz)
We see that community as an opportunity to keep developing.
Our Sustainability Journey Continues
Joining the Sustainable Business Network is an important step for Rise & Shine, but it is not the final step.
We want sustainability to continue developing alongside our business.
As we grow across Auckland, Christchurch, Wellington and Queenstown, we will continue looking at how we can improve our products, processes and everyday business practices.
That means asking ourselves how we can:
Clean effectively.
Work responsibly.
Reduce unnecessary impact.
Make better choices.
Keep improving.
These principles will continue to guide our approach as our business grows.
Proud to Join the Sustainable Business Network
We are proud to become part of the Sustainable Business Network and to join a community of organisations working towards a more sustainable Aotearoa New Zealand.
